Wind Zone Upgrades

For ALL storage buildings that are going to be constructed in a county with a wind speed rating of a “special mountain region” or a rating of 110 MPH or higher, the customer must purchase this upgrade to comply with NC state building codes and for Courtyard to warranty their building (see the following page for a list of counties and wind-speed ratings):
 
The Wind Zone Package includes ridge and rafter clips, increased strapping and anchoring, and tighter nailing patterns on exterior sheathing – all as determined by our engineer. 

COST:  $2/ sq ft of the building’s footprint
              $4/ sq ft of the building’s footprint if the building is built on pilings.
  

If you are building in a county with a higher wind-speed rating, you may want to also consider purchasing a metal roof.  Metal roofs have a much higher rating against wind than do shingles.
